A Faithful Spouse

Malachi 2:13-15 (NIV): “Another thing you do: You flood the Lord’s altar with tears. You weep and wail because he no longer looks with favor on your offerings or accepts them with pleasure from your hands. You ask, ‘Why?’ It is because the Lord is the witness between you and the wife of your youth. You have been unfaithful to her, though she is your partner, the wife of your marriage covenant. Has not the one God made you? You belong to him in body and spirit. And what does the one God seek? Godly offspring. So be on your guard, and do not be unfaithful to the wife of your youth.”

How long has it been since you embraced your spouse and said, “I love you!” for no special reason and without provocation? How long has it been since your children have watched you romance your spouse with a special dinner, a bouquet of flowers, or a waltz around the house? The Bible teaches us that the marriage relationship is our best idea of how Christ loves us. We are not to ignore our spouses or to take them for granted. Busy lives are no excuse for lack-luster marriages. The covenant you made with your wife or husband was to model for one another and for your children the love of Christ (Ephesians 5:25). And, Christ loves passionately, consistently, and eternally!

Recommit your marriage covenant with God and your spouse today!

Me and my spouse were both shaped by serving God. I believe that God used my spouse for His glory. God shapes us for service through a variety of methods, including the challenges I face in marriage. I learn to be effective in ministry as I learn to serve my spouses. I am learning new things. My husband is serving the Lord through music. He composes a new worship song for the Lord. I keep falling in love with my husband for that.
