New Day

Lamentations 3:22-23 (NIV): “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

We have all heard the saying that yesterday is gone, tomorrow may not come, so enjoy the present. Too many people, though, get stuck in the past. We live under the weight of shame and guilt from choices we made yesterday. Maybe we are still walking in the consequences of yesterday’s decisions, but our God has a way of making all things new. When we come to Him with the broken pieces of our life, the Master takes the tattered and old and divinely creates something breath-taking and new. Today is a new day. We have never lived it before. It is a clean slate, a fresh start to try something different than what we did yesterday. It is God’s gift to us. His compassion towards us never fails. His love for us is relentless. His faithfulness is great. Because of God, yesterday will not consume us. To prove it, He lovingly presents to us Today.

Praise God for His faithfulness to you today!

The Creator

Genesis 1:1 (ESV): “In the beginning, God created….”

Many people may have good ideas and may be known as problem-solvers. Many people may work well with their hands and are able to repair, build, construct, form, or produce. But, the truth of the matter is there is only one Creator – God. All of the ideas and “creations” that mankind can offer come from thoughts or materials already in existence. God, however, gave birth to everything out of nothing. With His beautiful mind, He designed. With the power of His Word, He spoke. By the Glory of His Majesty all that is came from God and is kept by God. How awesome to know that our Creator never wonders why or questions how. He is the Author and sustainer of all things, and this Mighty Lord calls us His own. Take comfort in your Creator today. You are one of His best ideas, and He loves you.

God is keeping you today!

The Great Calm

Mark 4:39 (ESV) “And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.”

Loud days, crazy days, “Calgon, take me away!” days… we all have them. Jesus had them. Just as the Apostle Mark recorded how Jesus quieted the stormy seas and howling winds with a sharp rebuke, we, too, should speak peace over our environments. Often times, the peace in my environment begins with me and my reactions to my circumstances. When we choose not to explode, not to scream, not to be shifted into “fire drill” mode, we can experience a calm in the middle of chaos. It is in this calm that the Holy Spirit renews our minds and provides clear direction. It is in this calm that we reflect the peace of our loving Savior who assures us that we are never alone (Deuteronomy 31:6).

Be the great calm in your environment today!

New Day

Freedom

Galatians 5:1 (NIV): “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”

There is no greater measure of love than to lay down one’s life for another. Jesus Christ laid down His life for you and me. He did this to show His love and to secure our eternal freedom. No longer are we chained to the slavery of sin. Because of Christ, we are free. Free to love, free to choose, free to live.

Freedom in Christ is yours today!
